A shiba pushing a boulder up a long rocky ridge under an empty sky
Same hillSame rockSince the beginning

Sisyphus Dog

The rock goes up. By evening it is at the bottom again. I have never once seen it happen and I have tried very hard to stay awake for it.

Kept by me, badly

Number nine was late because I slept in. The rock waited. It has never held that against me, which I find worse.

Close view of the dog pushing the boulder up the rock
The pushBoth paws, shoulder into it, head down. This is the part I am actually good at and nobody has ever come to watch it.
The dog sitting at the top beside the boulder at sunset
At the topI get about four minutes up here and I spend most of them looking at the rock in case it tries something.
The boulder back at the bottom of the slope in the morning
The following morningSame spot, same light. Nobody moved it. It is simply where it is, and so am I.
